Welcome

Welcome! Over the next few weeks, we are doing a project about using digital media and other creative ways of making learning & teaching in the classroom more fun.

Animating in lessons

To begin with, we thought of some boring subjects, or boring ways in which a subject is taught, and then to counter this we invented some more fun ways of learning in these lessons. Our decision was to do an animation for Geography, to provide information on why Mexicans migrate to the US. By writing a script and making plasticine chracters and objects, we found our first way of learning in a better, more interesting way.

Then, the next week we looked at another subject - History. With luck, we had been doing the 1st world war and the rise of the Nazi party, and so had an exciting topic to use Media for. We decided to do a radio play using a recoridng studio, which would be informative but far more interesting than reading and writing out stuff. We wrote a play divided it into three 'unheard' secret news broadcasts, of the trench warfare, of Hitler's election as Chancellor and the last about world war 2 beginning. Each given roles to speak out, we recorded the entire performance in one lesson before adding effective, cool wartime sound effects on the software Garageband. Thus, another peice of boring schoolwork was transformed into a fun activity!
